Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has requested "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes come after nights of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
